One part of us might want to be thin, but another is holding onto excess weight.
One part might want to exercise while another is resisting.
One part might want to be really successful but another is scared.
I could go on and on but I think you know what I mean.
All parts were necessary/important at one point in our life to protect us.
All parts had a reason for being there and might have been necessary in the beginning but they become old and obsolete and are no longer productive or helpful. In fact, these old parts can get in our way of moving forward.
So now… think about ‘apps’ on smart phones:
Some apps promise one thing but deliver something different.
Some apps fire up and steal energy without getting permission first.
Some apps might have been good in the beginning but they become old and obsolete and are no longer productive or helpful.
But all of the apps had a reason for being there.
When they are no longer needed they can be removed.
Sound familiar? These are parallels for us.
If we have “parts” of us that start without our permission, or are no longer helping, then we need to identify them and remove them.
Getting angry with these parts will only get them to dig in their heels deeper and not want to budge.
