What happens if a Negative Cycle is not Broken?

We all know that negative thoughts reinforce negative emotions, which in turn produces negative actions. If the cycle is not broken, it can have a detrimental physical and mental effect leading to self-sabotaging behaviors, pain, anxiety and unhappiness.

Think about this:

Imagine just one drop of purple food coloring placed into a clean glass of pure fresh water.  What would happen?

The whole glass of pure fresh water eventually turns purple.

A negative thought is the same as one drop of food coloring.  It discolors everything in our life.

Anger, frustration, blame, guilt etc all cause mental, physical, emotional and spiritual exhaustion.

We need to first identify these negative thoughts so we can delete them as quickly as they start.

A negative state of mind not caused by a single emotion:

When you’re in control of your thoughts, you’re the master of your emotions and you understand that life is happening for you, not to you.

The key to creating an extraordinary life has nothing to do with outside people or events – it’s inside of you.

But thinking patterns can be habitual, usually with little awareness.

And in order to change these negative patterns, we need to first understand what thoughts are getting in our way, and where the root system came from. Then, and only then can we pull ourselves out from under these negative thoughts and into the present moment.

As a therapist with over thirty years of experience of freeing clients from all kinds of issues, including depression, anxiety, anger, frustration etc., using hypnosis, I have often been asked why do people get depressed?

Here are my thoughts on the leading causes of feeling stuck:

Not feeling good enough
Not feeling worthy enough or believing we are good enough is the curse of the modern world. So many people feel pressured and are made to think that they are not pretty enough, smart enough, or rich enough. This feeling of not being enough affects everyone – even those who appear to ‘have it all.’ Otherwise all famous celebrities would be happy… apparently they seem to have it ‘all’!!

So many people live in the hope that one day their life will be great. The problem is… even if their life is great they can still feel depressed and alone.

Some people feel like they do not deserve success and attempt to be ‘perfect’.   In fact people who try to be, or appear, perfect
are the most depressed, the most stressed and the most unhappy.

Unrealistic expectations
Successful people feel pressure to be successful all the time. Happy people feel pressure to be happy all the time.  It’s interesting how many comedians are depressed. They feel so much pressure to be funny all the time, which actually makes them unhappy. Robin Williams is a good example. He appeared to ‘have it all’ but was struggling with depression, despite the way he presented himself.

Beautiful women can retire into seclusion when they don’t feel so beautiful. Many break away from the spotlight so they can break away from the pressure of people’s expectations.

Not doing what you love
Evidence has shown that when people do not follow their passion or do what they love, this can create depression, sadness, and illness. I have worked with so many clients who were unhappy because they did not have the career they really wanted. So much depression is caused by people not doing what they want to with their lives and suffering because of it. Or staying in a situation that they know is not the right place for them to be. We often forget that we have choice!

Living an unhealthy life
Depression caused by chemical imbalances can feel outside of our control. However, the good news is that there are things you can do to put yourself back in control. We are in control of what we eat, think and do. Therefore we can definitely make different choices that impact our life.

We have control of what we put into our body and mind and we can absolutely take positive action to do what is important to lead a happy, healthy and fulfilled life. Hypnosis is one of the tools that can help us do that.

Not focusing on what matters most
As humans, we need to feel a sense of belonging, that we are connected to others. This is deeply programmed into us for our survival. As babies, we need a connection to other people – to provide for us, care for us, feed and protect us – our lives depend on it.

But often we get caught up in work or obligations that take us away from this connection. We end up feeling empty, unfulfilled, and alone. Researchers have shown that loneliness can be more dangerous to your health than smoking or obesity. With social pain being likened to physical pain, it is no wonder we are all suffering so badly from this disconnection epidemic. These days we are definitely digitally connected, but more disconnected from what truly matters.

Feeling Out of Control
When something happens outside of our control, like illness or a traumatic event, we feel like we cannot control anything, and this can cause major problems.

We cannot control outside events or other people, but we can control our thinking. Learning to take control of our thoughts is remarkably effective at transforming our life.

We need a way to help us change our behaviors as well as our beliefs and thoughts.

We cannot wait for the motivation before we take action. When we take action we automatically become more motivated.

Many people use drugs to try and fix what they think is wrong. Don’t get me wrong, I know that some people benefit from drugs but most people do not actually need them. What they need is to reset their thinking because Thoughts Create Reality!

The truth is, being unhappy or unfulfilled will never be fixed with a pill.

That is why addressing the root system is so crucial. This is why hypnotherapy and in particular hypnosis is so powerful.

Hypnosis is not new. Hypnosis is a century-old therapeutic modality that is proven effective in resolving multiple issues from improving self-esteem, dealing with fears and phobias to quitting smoking and creating healthy weight loss, dealing with insomnia and anxiety and so much more.

Over the past 30 years I have had tremendous success using hypnosis for my clients by helping them to change their inner negative dialog, reverse sabotaging thought habits, and improve their new external dialog.

When you change your thoughts you change your life!

Hypnosis works with the subconscious mind, to reset negative thoughts, so we get to the root cause of sabotaging issues.

When we change our thinking, beliefs, and behaviors we change our life! Hypnosis is one of the most powerful tools to change your life
